Weekly Reading 9/25/2017 - 9/29/2017

I've been eyeing the Mildred Payne's Secret Pocket Oracle for a while. After seeing a post on reddit that the backs formed a puzzle, I was sold. I knew I had to have it. I'll tell just about anyone who will listen to me how I feel about oracle cards; however, these feel quite different as they actually a structure and strong ties to archetypes you find in traditional tarot decks.

The Secret Pocket Oracle is from Deviant Moon Publishing and is, as we would say, quite wee. I never thought I'd say something so creepy is so cute, but I'm quite the odd one myself. So far, the readings I have done with it have been accurate, to the point, and highly intuitive. The overly simplistic art I feel actually helps to respond more intuitively to the message than some of the more detailed decks. *cough* Shadowscapes *cough, cough* (For the record, I still love the Shadowscapes as well. It's just a bit more difficult to take in quickly.)

I only have one major stink with this deck so far... I simply can't understand how cauldron is misspelled, but orbuculum they got right.

Monday: Blood - Blood is the life force that warms us, drives us, and even binds us. Start the week with something that excites you and quickens the pulse.

Tuesday: Caldron (sic) - If you want new results, then you need to try new combinations. Use some of your energy from Monday to meet new people or just try something different.

Wednesday: Candle - Perhaps you've now felt the spark of enlightenment after changing your experiences. Don't let that spark die. Use it to light your way into new spiritual understandings.

Thursday: Orbuculum - Whatever answers you seek can often be found inside yourself. Don't settle for a tiny spark of understanding. Continue to dig deep to reach a more full understanding of self.

Friday: Sun - Once you've lit your own soul, shine it on the rest of the world.

You'd think this deck would have a creepy, dark vibe for readings, but I feel like it picks up the energy of what is needed well. For comparison, I did a quick single card reading for myself when I first received the deck to determine if someone was trustworthy. The devil and rat both popped out together! And yes, devil and rat mean exactly what you think it would in relation to trustworthiness.

In other news, I'm not sure if I will continue doing the weekly reading on a regular basis. I am considering limiting it to only when I have a new deck to share. I will probably continue to share daily cards on my facebook/instagram, but I feel my blog would be more engaging if I center on other topics related to tarot. I welcome your thoughts on this as I decide!
